Brookside Energy Ltd (ASX:BRK) has started flow-back operations at its second well in the SWISH Area of Interest (AOI) in Oklahoma’s world-class Anadarko Basin, the high-impact Rangers 36-25 SXH 1 Well.
This follows the successful completion of operations to clean up the well on schedule, safely and without incident.
Rangers Well is now flowing to temporary facilities as the recovery of stimulation fluids starts and flow-back operations get underway.
Cut of oil & gas observed
The clean-up and start of flow-back provided strong encouragement with a cut of oil and gas observed in stimulation fluid that is being recovered.
Brookside managing director Dave Prentice said: “It is very pleasing to have another milestone achieved successfully as we move into the flow-back phase of operations on our second high-impact well in the SWISH AOI.
“We are also obviously delighted to see oil and gas observed in the temporary facilities at such an early stage in the completion fluid recovery phase.
“We are looking forward to bringing updates from the flow-back to our shareholders as we start to flow the well through our permanent production facilities on location and commence sales of oil and gas."
About Rangers Well
The Rangers Well is operated by Black Mesa Energy, a controlled subsidiary of Brookside, and was drilled by Kenai Drilling Company in Stephens County, Oklahoma.
The well was drilled as a mid-length horizontal well targeting the Sycamore Formation at an average depth of ~9,750 feet.
It was drilled to a total measured depth of ~17,460 feet, with ~7,500 feet of lateral section drilled in the Sycamore that was subsequently cased with production tubing to be perforated and treated to allow production of oil and rich gas.
Successful clean-up
Operations to clean up the well to remove any remaining debris from the milling operations and the stimulation process have been completed successfully.
With the well now flowing to temporary facilities on location as stimulation fluids start to be recovered, temporary facilities designed to remove sand and other debris from the stimulation fluids are being used.
Brookside will continue flow-back operations to recover stimulation fluids.
The Rangers Well will be progressively turned from temporary facilities to permanent production facilities as stimulation fluid recovery continues with sales of oil and gas to then begin.
