Empire Metals buys 70% interest in 3 Australian copper-gold projects

The new projects lie within mining regions well known for world-class and significant copper and/or gold discoveries

Empire Metals Ltd (AIM:EEE) has acquired a 70% interest in three copper-gold projects in Australia from privately owned Century Minerals Pty Ltd.

The Pitfield and Walton projects are in Western Australia, whilst the Stavely project is in Victoria.

Empire said it expects the acquisitions to complement its existing Eclipse and Gindalbie projects.

"Following on from our successful maiden drilling campaign at Gindalbie, I am delighted to announce the addition of these highly prospective copper-gold projects to our growing portfolio of exploration assets in what we believe signifies an important milestone to becoming a significant copper-gold exploration and development company,” said managing director Shaun Bunn.

The new projects, which increase the size of Empire's exploration area from 9.5 km2 to 1,728 km2, all lie within mining regions well known for world-class and significant copper and/or gold discoveries, said London-listed Empire.

Empire will acquire the projects for A$100,000 (£58,000) in cash and the issue of 16.8 million new shares.
