Andromeda Metals Ltd (ASX:ADN) has appointed hjighly experienced mining executive and company director Mick Wilkes as its independent non-executive chair effective April 6, 2022.
Wilkes has more than 35 years of broad international mining experience coupled with a successful track record of leading the development and operation of greenfield mines.
Andromeda's acting chair Melissa Holzberger said, "We are very pleased to welcome Mick to the board. Mick is a highly respected international mining industry leader who will bring significant breadth of experience and insight to Andromeda."

Experienced executive
Most recently Wilkes served as chief executive officer of dual listed (ASX and TSX ) OceanaGold Corp and oversaw the gold mining company’s expansion into New Zealand as well as a number of large acquisitions.
At OceanaGold, Wilkes led the transformation from a single asset junior company to a multinational mid-tier producer with four operations across three countries.
Previously, he served as executive general manager of operations at OZ Minerals Limited (ASX:OZL) and was responsible for the development of the Prominent Hill copper/gold project in South Australia.
Wilkes has also been general manager of the Sepon gold/copper project in Laos for Oxiana.
At present, Wilkes is a non-executive chair of Kingston Resources Ltd (ASX:KSN), non executive director of Matador Mining Ltd (ASX:MZZ, OTCQX:MZZMF); non-executive director of Dacian Gold Ltd (ASX:DCN); and a member of the Sustainable Minerals Institute’s Advisory Board at the University of Queensland.
He was previously the chair of the governance committee and a member of the administration committee of the World Gold Council.
Wilkes holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) from the University of Queensland, a Master of Business Administration from Deakin University, and is a member of both the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Incidentally, Andromeda Metals recently acquired fellow ASX-listed Minotaur Exploration Ltd (ASX:MEP). The deal, first announced in November 2021, grants Andromeda full control of the Great White Kaolin Project in South Australia, as well as the 50/50 JV business Natural Nanotech.
