MGC Pharmaceuticals Ltd (LSE:MXC, OTC:MGCLF, ASX:MXC) has signed an exclusive distribution for the UK and certain EU countries for its proprietary cannabinoid products for the treatment of refractory epilepsy, dementia and Alzheimer's.
It has appointed Sciensus Rare as the exclusive distributor for the UK, Denmark, France, Italy, Spain and Luxembourg of MGC Pharma's CannEpil treatment for refractory epilepsy and CogniCann for dementia and Alzheimer's, for an initial four-year term.
Sciensus Rare, part of the Sciensus group, formerly Healthcare at Home, is an established international pharmaceutical services company, specialising in the provision of rare disease medicines through a network of decentralised clinical trials, early access programs and licensed distribution programs.
MGC Pharma said that after the initial 12 months of the agreement, the distributor will be subject to minimum purchase order requirements to maintain its exclusive distributor status.
The Sydney-, London- and US OTC-quoted company will continue to be responsible for seeking market authorisation in these territories, while Sciensus Rare will be responsible for applications to early access programmes and named patient programmes.
CannEpil, a solution intended for drug-resistant epilepsy, has been made accessible in Ireland for distribution and prescription and plans have been unveiled for a 10-patient UK trial, following import approval by the UK’s Medicine and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.
CogniCann is undergoing a Phase II clinical trial at the University of Notre Dame in Perth, Western Australia to evaluate its potential behavioural benefits.
