Advanced Material Development said it has been selected as one of 11 companies for the 2022 Faraday Investment Readiness Programme.
The company said the Faraday programme will invest up to £330mln in research and innovation projects focused on batteries in the UK with the aim of driving growth and forming strong battery businesses in the UK.
Innovate UK, which oversees the programme, said the selected companies work together over several weeks to "better understand how investors operate, develop a clear strategy to raise investment and selected companies will get the chance to pitch to UK and potentially US investors".
AMD's work on batteries originated through its expertise in 2D nanomaterials, through which it said it has been able to produce a variety of robust printed structures for electrodes, strain sensing and thermal interfaces that show improved conductivity and mechanical flexibility whilst dramatically improving sustainability.
John Lee, chief executive officer of AMD, said: "This potential investment will significantly enhance AMD’s ability to rapidly advance our materials technology development and work with our supply chain to further embed our technology in this fast-growing sector.
"In addition to battery related work, we have also developed advanced EMI shielding products which help to mitigate high frequency switching noise within the electrical management and motor systems with obvious implications for the automotive industry."
