C29 Metals Ltd (ASX:C29) has closed the books on a 507-line-kilometre survey at its Sampson’s Tank base metal play in Central New South Wales’ iconic Lachlan Fold Belt.
The versatile time-domain electromagnetic survey was flown over the entire tenement in early April to help pinpoint potential mineralisation conductors.
Now, that data will be processed and interpreted, with the findings expected sometime this quarter.
C29 has been working above and on the ground at Sampson’s Tank, with results from the company’s recent infill and expansion soil survey anticipated shortly.
As it conducts geophysical and geochemical fieldwork, the explorer is out to find volcanic associated massive sulphide copper-gold deposits across the property.
Sampson’s Tank sits within an emerging, high-grade copper district, and the project shares some key similarities with famous copper mines in the area.
What’s to come?
Much of the work to date at Sampson’s Tank has centred on two walk-up drill targets, known as P47 and P54.
The company’s recent sampling program aimed to infill and extend data across these targets, and the findings will guide C29’s next steps on the property.
Looking out, this endeavour marks a new chapter in Sampson’s Tank’s exploration history.
In the past, work was directed towards tin, tungsten and platinum mineralisation, with only very recent exploration looking at moderate to high-grade copper-gold deposits.
Exploring an emerging copper district
Sampson’s Tank lies within a high-grade base metal hotspot: the highly mineralised Girilambone District of the Lachlan Fold Belt in NSW.
Girilambone plays host to a number of volcanic associated massive sulphide deposits, such as:
- Aeris Resources Ltd (ASX:AIS)’s Tritton copper-gold mine;
- Helix Resources Ltd’s Collerina CZ copper-gold discovery; and
- Locksley Resources Ltd’s Tottenham copper-gold deposit.
Sampson’s Tank rubs shoulders with its famous neighbours — it’s 20 kilometres out from Collerina and 15 kilometres down the road from the Tottenham deposit.
