Murchison Minerals says Barre de Fer zone shows good potential for expansion on its HPM project in Quebec

The modeling of previous exploration demonstrates the camp-scale potential of the HPM project, CEO Troy Boisjoli told shareholders

Murchison Minerals Ltd (TSX-V:MUR, OTCQB:MURMF, TSX-V:MUR.V) said that modeling of the Barre de Fer zone on its Haut-Plateau de la Manicouagan (HPM) project in Quebec shows good potential for expansion of the high-grade nickel-copper-cobalt areas.

Based on the results from recompilation and modeling of previous drill holes, Murchison said that it is moving forward with its plan to expand and delineate the zone during a summer drill program.

Based on the modelling, the Barre de Fer (BDF) zone outcrops on surface, has a strike length of 315 metres (m), and is composed of multiple stacked lenses over a maximum 150m wide zone, and individual lenses have a maximum thickness of 28m, according to the company.

The modelled mineralization extends to a vertical depth of 295m, while “extensive” mineralization intersected outside the current model, up to a vertical depth of 440m, Murchison told shareholders.

Modelling indicates the setting, style, and high-grade characteristics of the BDF Zone are “favourable” for its summer 2022 drill program, Murchison said.

The zone is currently defined by 25 diamond drill holes with 5,564m of drilling completed between 2001 and 2008. Intercepts include 52.15m grading 2.04% nickel equivalent (NiEq), including 12.04m at 3% NiEq and 10.56m at 2.92% NiEq.

The modeling of previous exploration demonstrates the camp-scale potential of the HPM project, CEO Troy Boisjoli told shareholders.

“The potential at Barre de Fer to grow a significant high-grade near-surface mineral resource, likely amenable to open-pit mining, is exceptional,” Boisjoli said in a statement. “The planned 2022 exploration program, based on the work of the technical team, will leverage previous exploration at BDF with the objective to materially advance the project."

Ontario-based Murchison is focused on nickel-copper-cobalt exploration at its 100%-owned HPM project in Quebec and the Brabant Lake zinc‐copper‐silver project in north‐central Saskatchewan. The company also holds an option to earn 100% interest in the Barraute VMS exploration project also located in Quebec, north of Val d'Or.
