Tharisa PLC (LSE:THS, JSE:THA) named Bernard Pryor as managing director of Karo Mining Holdings Limited, in which it has a 66.3% stake.
The mining and exploration company said Pryor has over 35 years' experience in the mining industry, holding senior executive positions across a range of areas, such as project acquisition and development.
He is also experienced in international commercial and general management, having held roles across the globe.
More recently, Pryor was chief executive of Alufer Mining, where he oversaw the development and production of its flagship project.
Pryor also held CEO roles at African Minerals and Q Resources PLC, as well as senior positions within Anglo American PLC (LSE:AAL).
“His technical expertise coupled with developing mines around the globe ensures we have leadership in place that will deliver on our stated objectives,” said Tharisa chief executive Phoevos Pouroulis.
"I look forward to working with Bernie as we develop our second high-grade, low-cost and high-return PGM asset,” Pouroulis added.
