Numis Corporation (AIM:NUM) PLC, the investment banking group, said the mergers & acquisitions (M&A) market remains vibrant but the outlook for capital markets is less certain.
In a trading update covering the six months to the end of March, the company revealed that revenue fell by 36% from the comparative six-month period to around £74mln, although it did pointedly note that the previous period was a record-breaking one for the group.
M&A and Growth Capital Solutions delivered strong revenues in line with the performance in the same period a year earlier but this was offset by a decline in equity capital markets activity across the industry which affected the company’s Investment Banking performance.
The company said it does not expect company flotations to feature prominently in the near term but the outlook for M&A business in the second half of the current fiscal year remains positive.
Shares in Numis were down 3.9% at 247p.
