ANGLE PLC (AIM:AGL, OTCQX:ANPCY) said its liquid biopsy system was central to research carried out by scientists attempting to understand why breast cancer spreads, a process called metastasis.
The Parsortix system was used by members of the molecular oncology lab at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich to identify circulating tumour cells (CTCs) and CTC clusters.
Clusters are associated with a 23 to 50-fold increased potential to spread compared to single CTCs and therefore are linked to a higher risk of death in metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients.
ANGLE chief executive Andrew Newland said: "We are pleased to report on the use of the Parsortix system for the isolation of single CTCs and CTC clusters in preclinical MBC models, allowing the identification of actionable targets involved in cancer metastasis.
