Feedback PLC (AIM:FDBK), a specialist medical imaging technology company, said its cloud tuberculosis (TB) screening service has gone live in India’s Evangelical Hospital Khariar in Odisha, which the company describes as a significant development to help realise India’s vision of eliminating TB in three years.
The breakthrough means digital x-rays in rural areas can now be securely transmitted via mobile networks to the company’s clinical communication platform Bleepa, where images can be analysed by Feedback’s partner Qurei.ai and screening results can be available within minutes.
“This is a great milestone for the company, opening the gateway to a significant market and the opportunity to transform care for a great many people,” said Dr Tom Oakley, chief executive officer of Feedback.
"India has made massive strides in the development and adoption of medical technology to support the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. We support India's vision to eliminate TB by 2025, five years ahead of the UN's SDG goals,” Oakley said, adding that the company is ”confident that our pilot programme will demonstrate the value of Bleepa to rapidly screen for TB, particularly in remote, resource-scarce locations where this has been a challenge”.
The pilot, run in partnership with Qure.ai and Amazon Web Services will now move into an evaluative stage, where the system benefits will be measured as patients come through.
Feedback said it will also pursue a number of opportunities to commercialise the system, leveraging the evidence generated by the pilot programme.
