Flynn Gold Ltd (ASX:FG1) has begun a second phase of diamond drilling at Grand Flaneur prospect within the Portland Gold Project in Tasmania.
The program is designed to test structural targets identified in previous drilling along the 1.5-kilometre Grand Flaneur–Blue Bell mineralised trend, which returned results up to:
- 1.4 metres at 9.66 g/t gold from 45.6 metres, including 0.6 metres at 20.3 g/t from 45.6 metres;
- 0.5 metres at 12.75 g/t from 18.4 metres; and
- 2.0 metres at 7.52 g/t from 46.0 metres.
This second phase of diamond drilling will consist of about 1,000 metres over 4-7 holes, testing down-dip and strike extensions as well as deep conceptual targets along the prospective Rushy Lagoon Anticline trend.
Results critical for geological model
“We are excited to now be drilling on both of our two key projects in northeast Tasmania. The results from this program will be critical to developing our orogenic gold model for Portland and driving ongoing exploration there,” Flynn Gold executive director Sam Garrett said.
“With the first phase of diamond drilling at Brilliant coming to an end, our geology team has worked very hard over recent months to ramp up our exploration efforts across the portfolio with further trenching, RC (reverse circulation) and diamond drilling programs approved and geophysics and geochemistry sampling surveys also underway.”
For the second quarter of 2022, Flynn has designed a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program and is planning to conduct detailed drone magnetic and induced polarisation (IP) geophysical surveys over the Portland project tenure.
