Thor Mining back on the ground at Ragged Range as field season begins

"The testing of these new targets in conjunction with the continuation of drilling of further gold exploration targets at the Sterling Prospect, has the potential for significant exploration discoveries," said managing director Nicole Gallo

Thor Mining PLC (AIM:THR, OTC:THORF, ASX:THR) said it is mapping and sampling for lithium, surveying for nickel and preparing to drill for gold as the 2022 field season begins at its Ragged Range project in Western Australia.

“The current field program concentrates on mapping and sampling of several lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatite targets associated with the highly prospective Split Rock Supersuite,” said managing director Nicole Galloway Warland.

Now back on the ground, the team will be investigating all small granitic and pegmatitic bodies in the lithium target area, the company said, with samples to be assayed for lithium and key pathfinder elements.

Reconnaissance soil sampling and prospecting is being carried within the 10km halo of the Mondana Monzogranite.

At the south-west corner of the 100%-owned Eastern Pilbara project, Thor has scheduled a high-powered fixed-loop electromagnetic (FLEM) ground geophysics survey for mid-April, to identify the most prospective areas at depth to conduct initial drill testing at the previously untested nickel gossan.

The survey is expected to take one week to complete.

As for the gold exploration, the company said final preparations are in place to restart RC (reverse circulation) drilling at the Sterling prospect, following up on structurally controlled anomalous gold found in streams and soils.

Galloway Warland said: “The testing of these new targets in conjunction with the continuation of drilling of further gold exploration targets at the Sterling Prospect, has the potential for significant exploration discoveries. We look forward to updating the market as soon as results are available.”
