Pierre Poilievre, the Canadian Conservative Party candidate for Prime Minister said he supports the use of Bitcoin as a legal tender in the country. According to CoinTelegraph, a video posted by YouTube channel BITCOIN today showed Poilievre saying that Canadians should have more “financial freedom.”
The 42-year-old candidate went on to add “that includes freedom to own and use crypto, tokens, smart contracts, and decentralized finance.”
Poilievre’s stance contradicts the view of the current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who earlier this year took a strong stance against the digital currency in response to the Freedom Convoy protests that took place in Canada.
