Yandal Resources fields further high-grade gold at Malone, further enhancing Gordons Project potential

“With these results, the Malone prospect remains a high priority exploration target within the Gordons Gold Project in terms of its potential size and grade at depth,” says MD.

Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) has returned further high-grade gold from a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Gordons Gold Project, 30 kilometres from Kalgoorlie-Boulder in Western Australia.

At Malone Prospect, encouraging final assays have been received from two RC holes designed to confirm the orientation and grade of newly discovered high-grade mineralisation.

The standout result is 3 metres at 8.8 g/t gold from 190 metres, including 2 metres at 13.0 g/t with 1-metre at 19.4g/t.

This hole, YRLRC0811, is around 30 metres from the discovery RC intercept at Malone that returned 5 metres at 7.7 g/t from 210 metres, including 1-metre at 10.9 g/t from 210 metres and 1-metre at 15.4 g/t from 212 metres.

Looking ahead, Malone prospect remains a high-priority target and a follow-up program of RC and diamond drilling is in the advanced planning stages and set to begin in the June quarter.

“High priority exploration target”

Yandal managing director Lorry Hughes said: “Yandal has confirmed the Malone prospect has the potential to host a significant high-grade gold discovery very close to operating mines and infrastructure and a short distance from the town of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

“With these results, the Malone prospect remains a high priority exploration target within the Gordons Gold Project in terms of its potential size and grade at depth.

“The prospect is open in most directions as the immediate location has only received shallow wide-spaced aircore drilling and no drilling into the primary zone along strike for ~2 kilometres to the northwest.

“A program of further testing using RC drilling with a down hole televiewer and/or oriented diamond core drilling is planned to firm up the orientation of the mineralisation prior to aggressive step-out drilling.”

Star of Gordon prospect

A five-hole diamond drilling program was completed for 1,144 metres during the March quarter at Star of Gordon Prospect aimed at improving the understanding of the complex geology and structural controls on previously identified high-grade mineralisation.

Results have been received from three diamond and 42 RC holes which have returned several encouraging intercepts:

  • 4.41 metres at 4.8 g/t gold from 226.49 metres including 0.44 metres at 46.4g/t; and
  • 28 metres at 0.5 g/t from 16 metres, including 4 metres at 1.8 g/t.

Planning for follow-up drilling is underway pending the return of final assay results from a further two diamond holes and a review of the geological interpretation

Forward plan

Yandal’s key exploration activities planned during the June quarter will include:

  • Finalising design and commencing follow-up RC and diamond drilling at the Malone prospect;
  • Receive and interpret pending aircore and RC results from the Star of Gordon, Marsh, Hussey, Challenger, Parmelia, Success and HMS Sulphur prospects
  • Compile an initial open pit mineral resource estimate for the Gordons Dam prospect;
  • Commence detailed planning and execution of heritage surveys over key prospect areas within the Ironstone Well and Barwidgee projects including priority areas within, adjacent to and along strike from the Newport, Flushing Meadows, Oblique, Quarter Moon, Flinders Park and Sims Find prospects.
