Galileo Mining Ltd (ASX:GAL) has received the highest palladium and platinum results to date from its 100%-owned Norseman project in Western Australia.
Palladium and platinum drill results extend over nine kilometres of strike length along a well-defined geological trend.
The results include 8 metres at 1.44 g/t 2E (palladium + platinum), 0.11% nickel and 0.01% copper from 8 metres, including 4 metres at 1.70 g/t 2E, 0.11% nickel and 0.01% copper from 12 metres.
They include broad intersections of anomalous palladium and platinum:
➢ 20 metres at 0.32 g/t 2E, 0.18% nickel, 0.03% copper from surface; and
➢ 20 metres at 0.29 g/t 2E, 0.27% nickel, 0.03% copper from 24 metres.
Laboratory results from aircore drilling at the northern end of the Mission Sill prospect at Norseman have been received with additional assay results expected over the coming weeks.
Follow up reverse circulation (RC) drilling is planned beneath palladium and platinum intercepts from aircore drill holes.
Highest aircore grades to date
Galileo managing director Brad Underwood said: “We have intercepted anomalous palladium results every time we have drilled the prospective geological zone at the Mission Sill prospect.
“This time we have received the highest aircore grades to date with greater than one gram palladium assays over eight metres downhole.
“In addition, we have multiple drill holes with good indications of palladium, which will assist in pinpointing the best targets for follow up RC drill testing.
“With nine kilometres of prospective strike length, we are exploring an extensively mineralised geological zone with excellent potential for the development of an economic mineral deposit.”
Results
Further laboratory assays have been received from drilling along the same prospective contact zone at the northern end of the Mission Sill.
The location of the latest aircore results extends the known strike length of anomalous palladium and platinum to over nine kilometres.
Four kilometres of this target strike length has not yet been subject to first pass aircore drilling.
Follow up RC drilling is required to determine whether mineralisation continues at depth beneath the aircore drill intercepts which are limited to the near-surface environment.
The best results from the latest drill holes were obtained from aircore drill hole NAC151, which occurs at the interpreted contact between ultramafic and mafic rock.
Significant results, defined as palladium >0.1 g/t, were also received from two drill holes completed at the Jimberlana Prospect.
The bottom of hole sample from NAC105 was a repeat of sampling reported on December 1, 2021, and confirmed the palladium, copper and nickel sulphide mineralisation previously reported.
NAC108, which was drilled 150 metres south of NAC105, also had an anomalous result of 4 metres at 0.11 g/t palladium from 16 metres and extends the zone of interest of this prospect area.
This unexplored contact position will be targeted with first pass aircore drilling and follow up RC drill testing.
RC drill testing of the Jimberlana and Mission Sill prospects will be undertaken after the completion of heritage surveys and receipt of statutory approvals.
