Stellar Resources Ltd (ASX:SRZ) has intersected high-grade tin in a wedge hole (ZS143W) at the Severn deposit – one of four deposits at the company’s flagship Heemskirk Tin Project.
The Heemskirk Project on the West Coast of Tasmania is the highest-grade undeveloped tin resource in Australia and the second highest globally.
Results from the first phase of drilling at the deposit have confirmed wide zones of high-grade tin mineralisation, with a standout 20 metres of cumulative tin mineralisation intersected about 600 metres below the surface. Key assays include:
- 3.8 metres at 1.10% tin from 585 metres;
- 3.0 metres at 1.31% from 635 metres; and
- 8.4 metres at 0.73% from 650.7 metres.
These intersections demonstrate a continuity of mineralisation from the bottom of the Severn deposit inferred resource, confirming Severn remains open at depth and along strike.
Potential for increased resource
“The ZS143W daughter hole assay results are very encouraging and importantly demonstrate continuity of tin mineralisation between drill hole ZS120 above and the ZS143 parent hole below,” Stellar Resources executive director Gary Fietz said.
“The ZS143W results, along with the ZS143 parent hole and ZS140 Phase 1 drilling results, highlight the potential for the Severn resource to be expanded significantly at depth.
“Severn is already by far the largest of the four deposits comprising the Heemskirk Tin Project and remains open at depth and along strike.”
Drilling at the Oonah deposit, Zeehan Western historic mine and Zeehan Queen No 4 historic mine all intersected additional tin mineralisation.
The results confirmed multiple lower grade zones below Oonah, narrow high-grade fissures beneath Zeehan Western and sulphide mineralisation with anomalous tin under Zeehan Queen No 4.
Phase 2 drilling focused on extensions
“The last of our Phase 1 holes (ZS148) targeting extensions to the indicated mineral resource at Severn is well underway and is expected to be completed in a few weeks’ time,” Fietz continued.
“The second rig on site has recently commenced drilling the first hole in the Phase 2 drilling program at Severn.
“The initial Phase 2 program in 2022 will focus on extending the Severn indicated resource along with a deeper hole planned at South Severn to test the compelling magnetic and conductivity target identified last year.
“We are currently finalising the hole designs for the Phase 2 program and will update the market shortly.”
The first hole of the Phase 2 program at Severn commenced drilling last Friday, targeted at infill drilling to further define extensional tin mineralisation and drill testing the South Severn magnetic and conductivity target at 900 metres depth.
