UK satellite company OneWeb has turned to Elon Musk’s SpaceX to launch its satellites after dropping its Russian partner Roscosmos following the Ukraine invasion.
Roscomos had demanded assurances that any satellite launched by OneWeb would not contain military technology.
OneWeb, which is part-owned by the British government, is expected to launch its first satellite with SpaceX this year.
"With these launch plans in place, we’re on track to finish building out our full fleet of satellites," said OneWeb chief executive Neil Masterson said.
OneWeb, which will offer broadband via a constellation of 650 satellites, was refinanced by the UK government and Bharti Global in 2020.
