Surefire Resources enhances gold discovery area west of Yidby deposit

A drilling rig is booked for up to 4,000 metres of drilling starting in mid-April to further test the new discovery as well as additional previously untested MMI anomalies and possible extensions.

Surefire Resources NL (ASX:SRN) has enhanced a new gold discovery area west of Yidby deposit within the Yidby Gold Project with new results increasing the footprint.

Initial drilling of a strong MMI gold anomaly 400 metres to the west of the Yidby deposit has returned a wide intersection.

Further potential

The company is planning further drilling to start next month to further test the new discovery area as well as additional previously untested MMI anomalies and possible extensions of the deposit.

A reverse circulation (RC) drilling rig is booked for up to 4,000 metres of drilling and Surefire is confident this will extend the gold footprint with the Yidby deposit remaining open to the north, northwest and southeast.

Final results for YBRC024

On January 19, 2022, the company announced drilling results and outlined targets developed from geophysical interpretation and geological logging in the project area.

A surface geochemical anomaly, situated over a major northwest shear, was identified.

At the time, hole YBRC024 was partially reported and the final results have now been received, which greatly improve the moderate gold intercepts already reported.

The hole 400 metres northwest of the Yidby deposit returned 16 metres at 1.39 g/t gold from 16 metres within an envelope of 56 metres at 0.60 g/t from 12 metres.

Hole YBRC024 represents a completely new centre of gold mineralisation. It is significant as it confirms the bedding discordant, shear-host gold mineralisation predicted from the mineralisation model being applied to this project.

Importantly, the gold mineralisation occurs in a thick zone. A shallow supergene zone sits on top of the interpreted gold lode.

The recent assay results suggest the new discovery area hosts a NW trending structure with wide downhole gold results.

New drilling campaign

A campaign of up to 4,000 metres of RC drilling is scheduled to extend the Yidby Gold Deposit to the north and to the east-southeast.

In the east-southeast, drilling will test the possible extension of gold mineralisation intersected in YBRC045, the most southeast drilled section.

This campaign is scheduled to begin in mid-April.
