Carnavale Resources Ltd (ASX:CAV) has completed a second substantial 176 hole, 12,894-metre aircore drilling program at Ora Banda South Gold Project In Western Australia, following-up previous shallow bedrock gold results that confirmed a 15-kilometre-long gold-bearing system.
The first aircore campaign generated three gold anomaly targets, open along strike and at depth, and notable results from that program include:
- 4 metres at 8.82 g/t gold from 40 metres;
- 8 metres at 2.74 g/t from 48 metres, including 4 metres at 5.1 g/t from 52 metres;
- 12 metres at 0.44 g/t from surface, including 4 metres at 1.40 g/t from 24 metres;
- 4 metres at 0.76 g/t from 56 metres;
- 4 metres at 0.72 g/t from 16 metres; and,
- 9 metres at 0.31 g/t from 56 metres, ending in mineralisation.
Targeting further definition of gold zones
“We are excited to have completed another substantial aircore program at Ora Banda to test the high-grade gold zones that were identified in the initial scout drilling,” Carnavale Resources CEO Humphrey Hale said.
“This program was designed to provide definition to the gold anomalies in the regolith along section and improve confidence along strike.
“So far, we have confirmed that the Carnage shear system is fertile for gold mineralisation along 15 kilometres strike. The results of this program will start to define the scale and extents of this mineralised system.”
The drill program was designed to define the extent of gold mineralisation at Ora Banda by reducing the spacing of drill holes to 40 metres and including additional drill lines to test the strike extent. Results are expected in late April.
Carnavale has interpreted the geological setting of the Ora Banda South Project’s gold strike to be similar to the more than 2.5-million-ounce resource of the Invincible Gold Mine, discovered by Gold Fields Limited near Kambalda in 2012.
