Galileo Mining reveals new palladium target at Norseman Nickel-Cobalt Project in Western Australia

Galileo Mining Ltd (ASX:GAL) has discovered a new platinum-palladium (2E) target at the Norseman Nickel-Cobalt Project in Western Australia from aircore drilling results that revealed anomalous mineralisation in six contiguous holes over 250 metres of drill line.

Palladium and platinum have now been identified over eight kilometres of strike length, with a further four kilometres of untested prospective tenure to be investigated.

Notable results from drilling at the northern Mission Sill prospect included:

  • 15 metres at 0.44 g/t 2E (palladium + platinum), 0.14% nickel, 0.05% copper from surface, including 4 metres at 0.69 g/t 2E, 0.11% nickel, 0.03% copper from 4 metres; and
  • 24 metres at 0.28 g/t 2E, 0.15% nickel, 0.02% copper from surface

“Provide a strong basis for follow up”

“Positive palladium and platinum results continue to arrive from our Norseman project with the latest assays showing we have a new target for follow up drill testing,” Galileo Mining managing director Brad Underwood said.

“Six out of seven holes drilled on a single line returned significant results with maximum grades of four metres at 0.69 g/t 2E.

“The location of palladium and platinum in the Mission Sill area is focused on a geological boundary which has now been defined over eight kilometres of strike.

“Drill intercepts to date provide a strong basis for follow up RC (reverse circulation) drill programs with the aim of locating potentially economic mineralisation.

“Further aircore drilling is also required to assess the prospective zones which have never been drilled.

“With multiple drill programs planned over the coming months, we are anticipating a strong news flow as we pursue these high-value exploration targets.”

RC drilling of palladium-nickel targets at the Mt Thirsty prospect of Norseman has been planned for April to follow up drill results, including 27 metres at 0.58 g/t palladium, 0.12 g/t platinum, 0.13% copper and 0.18% nickel.

Additional drill testing of the Jimberlana and Mission Sill prospects will be undertaken by Galileo after the completion of heritage surveys and receipt of statutory approvals.

About Galileo Mining

Galileo Mining is focused on the exploration and development of nickel, palladium, copper and cobalt resources in Western Australia.

The company has joint ventures with Creasy Group over tenements in the Fraser Range which are highly prospective nickel-copper sulphide deposits similar to the operating Nova mine.

Galileo also holds tenements near Norseman with more than 26,000 tonnes of contained cobalt and 122,000 tonnes of contained nickel, in JORC-compliant resources.
