Computacenter hikes dividend as business demand for digitisation remains 'buoyant'

Underlying profit has doubled over the past three years

Computacenter PLC (LSE:CCC), which sells computers and software to businesses, hiked its total dividend 30% after reporting strong profit growth and saying it is seeing ongoing buoyant market conditions.

Having reported in January that adjusted profit before tax would be "slightly" above £250mln, the FTSE 250-listed company reported an underlying PBT of £255.6mln.

This was up 27.5% on the previous year and has now doubled over the past three years, with PBT for both the first and second halves of the year individually greater than any full year prior to 2019.

Chief executive Mike Norris said: "Our acquisitions in North America and Western Europe have materially increased our total addressable market."

These and organic investments in the sales force, technical expertise and systems have collectively, he said, "put us in a position to take advantage of the ongoing buoyant market conditions, as our customers invest in digitalising their businesses".

A final dividend of 49.4p will bring the full-year dividend to 66.3p, up from 50.7p a year ago.

The shares rose 5% to 2,770p on Wednesday morning.
