QC Copper and Gold says new assay results at Opemiska project confirm “excellent expansion potential”

"We are pleased to see the continued style of broad mineralization within the Saddle Zone as this area is important for increasing tonnage but also optimizing the open-pit geometry,” director and vice president of exploration Charles Beaudr

QC Copper and Gold Inc. (TSX-V:QCCU, OTCQB:QCCUF) has announced new assay results from its ongoing drill program at the Opemiska copper project in Quebec, which it said confirm “excellent expansion potential”.

The company said the majority of the reported intersections are within the Saddle Zone at Opemiska, a critical expansion area for the open pit. The Saddle Zone was never mined and existed in between the former producing Springer and Perry mines, it added.

QC Copper noted that several holes returned wide copper mineralized intervals, including OPM-21-123: 93 metres (m) at 0.45% copper equivalent (CuEq) starting at 6m downhole, and OPM-22-126: 100m at 0.42% CuEq starting at 60m downhole.

"We are pleased to see the continued style of broad mineralization within the Saddle Zone as this area is important for increasing tonnage but also optimizing the open-pit geometry,” director and vice president of exploration Charles Beaudry said in a statement.

“Our thesis is that significant mineralization inside the conceptual pit was not captured by the initial mineral resource estimate published last fall. Our recent drilling confirms that there is excellent expansion potential by drilling the areas currently counted as waste and converting these into the resource category.”

As of March 13, 2022, QC Copper said a total of 6,640ms in 31 holes have been completed on the property for the winter 2022 drilling program.

“This current drilling is also being complemented by additional data compilation from surface and underground holes,” Beaudry added.

QC Copper and Gold’s 12,782 hectares Opemiska property covers the past producing Springer, Perry, Robitaille, and Cooke mines, which were previously owned and operated by Falconbridge between 1953-1991.

The project hosts excellent on-site infrastructure, including a power station and direct access to Highway 113 and the Canadian National Railway.
