Informa more confident about 2022 as live events return

The FTSE 100 events and information group said it has no commercial entities or operations in Ukraine, Russia or Belarus

Informa PLC (LSE:INF) reported a step-up in profits last year and said the planned divestment of its Financial Intelligence unit is underway.

The FTSE 100-listed events and information group said it has no commercial entities or operations in Ukraine, Russia or Belarus and has so far “seen no impact on trading”.

It insisted there was "zero to minimal counterparty currency or other material exposure" to Russia and Belarus, with revenues generated around the world from entities based there representing "less than 0.1% of revenues in 2021".

Full-year profits rose to £388.4mln from £266.6mln a year earlier, helped by the return of live and online events. Guidance had been for £375mln of profit.

Management has forecast 2022 operating profits of £470mln to £490mln.

Chief executive Stephen A Carter said: "The robust return of live and on-demand events, combined with consistent and improving growth at Taylor & Francis, and continued expansion in B2B Digital Services, gives us confidence of further growth and acceleration in 2022."

Analysts at UBS said revenue and EBIT were slightly ahead of its expectations, driven by Informa Markets and Informa Intelligence.

The shares were up 2% to 563p by late morning.
