Mako Gold Ltd (ASX:MKG) has intersected high-grade gold mineralisation in deep extensional drilling beneath the Tchaga prospect of the flagship Napié Project in Côte d’Ivoire, returning multiple notably high-grade intercepts including:
- 4.5 metres at 6.92 g/t gold, including 1-metre at 29.46 g/t; and
- 19.6 metres at 4.36 g/t, including 2.2 metres at 23.49 g/t.
All 10 diamond drill holes returned appreciable mineralisation of sufficient width and grade with the potential to increase the size of a maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE) Mako expects to complete in the second quarter of this year.
Several of the drill cores revealed multiple distinct sections of mineralisation, including NARC559DD which hosts an aggregate width and weighted average grade of 63.1 metres at 1.25 g/t gold.
“Option to extend resource at depth”
“We are pleased with the results from our extensional deep diamond drilling at the Tchaga Prospect, especially since all 10 holes intersected significant gold mineralisation," Mako Gold managing director Peter Ledwidge said.
“Gold mineralisation is shown to be open at depth, indicating that post maiden MRE, there will be the option to extend the resource at depth at Tchaga, thereby increasing the size of the resource.
“Extensional drilling is ongoing at Gogbala with two drills working around the clock, as we gear up for the upcoming MRE.”
Other highlight assays from Tchaga include:
NARC621DD: 41 metres of mineralisation intersected over 7 zones averaging 2.85 g/t gold, including:
- 6 metres at 1.24 g/t from 48 metres;
- 6.7 metres at 1.46 g/t from 160.1 metres, including 1-metre at 6.87 g/t from 160.1 metres; and
- 19.6 metres at 4.36 g/t from 187.4 metres, including 2.2 metres at 23.49 g/t from 189.8 metres.
NARC512DD: 14.6 metres of mineralisation intersected over 4 zones averaging 3.32 g/t gold, including:
- 4.5 metres at 6.92 g/t from 213.1 metres, including 1-metre at 29.46 g/t from 216.6 metres; and
- 5 metres at 2.28 g/t from 256 metres.
NARC559DD: 63.1 metres of mineralisation intersected over 15 zones averaging 1.25 g/t gold, including:
- 3 metres at 2.66 g/t from 45 metres;
- 8.3 metres at 0.96 g/t from 115.5 metres;
- 4.8 metres at 1.24 g/t from 165.2 metres;
- 13 metres at 1.05 g/t from 297 metres;
- 3.5 metres at 1.55 g/t from 327.5 metres;
- 4 metres at 1.65 g/t from 326 metres; and
- 5 metres at 1.66 g/t from 361 metres; including 1-metre at 5.50 g/t from 361 metres.
NARC566DD: 7.75 metres at 1.10 g/t from 169 metres.
NARC265DD: 5 metres at 1.12 g/t from 236 metres.
Further extensional reverse circulation (RC) drilling and diamond drilling programs are ongoing at the Gogbala prospect, with assays still pending.
Once all results have been collated and processed, the company will move to complete a resource estimate for Tchaga and Gogbala.
