Azure Minerals Ltd (ASX:AZS) has completed its maiden reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Barton Gold Project situated within the Kookynie Gold District of Western Australia.
The company’s drilling program at Barton is comprised of 21 RC holes totalling 3,473 metres targeting gold mineralisation at the Daisy Corner adjacent to Genesis Minerals (ASX:GMD) Ltd’s new Puzzle North gold discovery.
Azure’s drilling has intersected prospective rock types and alterations across the drill holes and is awaiting assay results to confirm potential follow-up drilling.
“Quartz-veined rocks”
Commenting on its first drilling program, Azure managing director Tony Rovira said: “Initial observations indicate our drilling has intersected encouraging altered and quartz-veined rocks along the granite-greenstone contact, which may indicate the presence of gold mineralisation.
“Assays are expected to take up to eight weeks to be returned, and follow-up drilling will be initiated if significant results support the visual descriptions.”
Drill program
Azure’s drilling covered 800 metres of potential strike length to the northwest of the Azure-Genesis tenement boundary on section lines spaced 100 metres to 200 metres apart.
Notably, multiple holes intersected sheared and quartz-veined granitic rocks with pink-red haematitic alteration and varying quantities of disseminated pyrite throughout the holes.
Furthermore, the contact between the greenstone sequence and granitic rocks was intersected in most holes and has been traced over 800 metres of strike within Azure’s ground.

Azure holds a large and mostly contiguous, strategically situated portfolio of eleven tenements within the gold-rich Kookynie district and covering potential extensions to the south.
The project forms part of the world-class Leonora-Laverton gold province of the Eastern Goldfields region in Western Australia.
The current landholding hosts numerous underexplored mineralised trends covering greenstone belts, adjacent granite margins and favourable structural settings that are considered prospective for hosting significant gold and base metals mineralisation.
