Faron Pharmaceuticals Ltd said an analysis of biomarker data from its MATINS trial from patients treated with bexmarilimab will be presented at the upcoming American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) annual meeting in New Orleans from 8 April 8 to 13.
The ongoing open-label Phase I/II MATINS clinical trial is investigating the safety and efficacy of bexmarilimab, which is being investigated as a potential monotherapy in patients with solid tumours who have exhausted all other treatment options, it said.
The clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company that aims to use the immune system to tackle cancer and inflammation will present data from 30 patients across three different tumour types.
When used together, interferon-gamma (IFN y) and tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNFa) are highly predictive of response to bexmarilimab and patients with low IFNy and TNFa levels experienced significantly higher clinical benefit following treatment.
Bexmarilimab is Faron's wholly-owned investigational precision immunotherapy asset.
Patients with low levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines experiencing higher clinical benefit is opposite to what is usually seen with currently approved checkpoint inhibitors and other T cell activating agents, Faron said.
