World Copper Ltd (TSX-V:WCU, OTCQB:WCUFF) announced that it has received approval from the Regional Environmental Committee for a 5,000-metre (m) diamond drilling programme at its flagship 100%-owned Escalones project in Chile.
The company said it has already begun mobilization to the proposed drilling sites at Escalones and intends to start drilling in the upcoming days.
“The company expects to be able to publish the initial drilling results in the second half of 2022 and, will provide updates as it continues mobilizing its team on site and starts drilling,” World Copper CEO Nolan Peterson said in a statement.

“The company has simultaneously commenced an in-fill sampling programme on two of the distal targets, Rio Negro and Argüelles Este, and exploration of eastern extensions to the East Skarn; this work is expected to be completed in 1Q 2022,” Peterson added.
World Copper noted that the acquired geological information will allow the company to continue developing the project and update the recently-published Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA).
It added that the main Escalones deposit remains open to expansion laterally to the south, east and west, with only roughly half of the alteration zone drilled to date.
Headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, World Copper is a Canadian resource company focused on the exploration and development of its copper porphyry projects: Escalones and Cristal in Chile, and Zonia in Arizona. Two of these projects have estimated resources with significant soluble copper mineralization, and there are at least two other copper porphyry targets with exciting potential to expand the resource base.
