Golden Shield Resources (CSE:GSRI) Inc announced that it has discovered two new zones of mineralization at the Mazoa Hill target on its flagship Marudi Mountain project in Guyana.
The junior exploration firm recently finished a 2,400-metre, 13-hole drill program on the prospective gold project.
Seven holes drilled at Mazoa Hill confirmed the historical resource on the area, with three holes returning assays of 43 metres grading 1.39 grams per ton (g/t), including 21 metres at 2.12 g/t and 10 metres grading 2.46 g/t gold. Another hole returned assays of 9.75 metres at 11.89 g/t gold.
Both holes are outside of the existing resource and open in all directions, the company noted.

"The recent drilling at Mazoa Hill represents the first systematic program to test for footwall extensions beyond the existing resource and in an optimal direction for modelling mineralization,” Golden Shield vice president exploration Colinl Porter said in a statement.
Porter told shareholders that the presence of a series of distinct en-enchelon high-grade zones within a broader QMC (quartz-metachert) alteration zone was confirmed.
“The identification of two additional high-grade mineralization shoots outside the existing resource is also extremely encouraging,” Porter added. “Increased geological understanding at Mazoa Hill will directly benefit our district scale exploration program.”
The group is waiting on assays from another four holes drilled in the area.
Mazoa Hill is one of eight prospects on the Marudi Mountain project, which is located in southwestern Guyana.
