Guild Esports PLC (LSE:GILD, OTC:GULDF) won its fifth major trophy after Henrik Mclean, its professional Fortnite player, achieved first place in the Fortnite Champion Series EU Final that took place over the weekend.
The total prize money for the tournament was US$300,000, with Mclean taking home half as part of his efforts.
Fellow team members Jannis Matwin, Lennard Sill and Anas El-Abd finished fourth, seventh and eighth, with the statement saying that “rounded off the impressive showing by Guild.”
The victory cements the London-listed company’s position in the number one ranking spot in Europe, and earned its pro-players a total of US$260,000 from the event.
"We are incredibly proud to have the top Fortnite roster in Europe. Winning trophies and generating media value is exactly what our brand partners expect,” said chief executive Kal Hourd.
“We are building this business the right way and I remain confident in securing significant partnership revenue in 2022," Hourd added.
