Nike becomes latest to halt Russian-related operations

It joined a long list of Western companies to suspend their operations in Russia, including Apple, BP, Shell, and Ford

Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) said it’s temporarily shutting all of its Russian stores, following its decision to stop purchases on its website and app in Russia earlier in the week.

This will include all Nike-owned and operated stores, it said.

The US-based sportswear company will donate US$1mln to the United Nations Children’s Fund and the International Rescue Committee to aid relief in Ukraine following Moscow’s continued invasion.

Nike joined a long list of Western companies to suspend their operations in Russia, including Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL), BP PLC (LSE:BP.), Shell PLC (LSE:SHEL, NYSE:SHEL, EURONEXT:SHELL), and Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F).
