Nexus Minerals Ltd (ASX:NXM)’s drilling campaign at the Crusader-Templar target of the Wallbrook Project has hit broad, high-grade gold.
The company has so far drilled 105 holes, covering 24,376 metres, at Wallbrook in WA’s Eastern Goldfields.
Assays from 22 of the RC holes, spanning 5,738 metres, have been received, all of which intersected gold mineralisation that exhibits strong strike continuity.
The wait for results continues with assays anticipated for almost 19,000 metres of drilling this month.
In the meantime, three RC and two diamond drill rigs continue to hunt for gold on-site.
Potential for “very large mineralised system”
Speaking to the findings, Nexus managing director Andy Tudor said: “The team has done a stellar job to get the exploration program up to the five operating drill rigs as planned. The change of assay laboratory in January has resulted in a four-week turnaround on assay results.
“This is essential to Nexus being able to continue the aggressive drilling program planned for 2022.
“We’re extremely pleased with the recent results, with all 22 holes intersecting gold mineralisation within significant zones of alteration.
“The results provide further confidence in the potential for the Crusader-Templar Prospect to evolve into a very large mineralised system.
“Once we receive the large backlog of assay results in March we will have a much stronger understanding of the project geology, alteration and associated mineralisation, which will enable more targeted drilling as part of the follow-up 40,000-metre reverse circulation program.”

Some of the best assays from this round of results are:
- 8 metres at 4.41 g/t gold from 252 metres, including 3 metres at 11.40 g/t;
- 15 metres at 2.59 g/t from 190 metres, including 4 metres at 6.04 g/t;
- 14 metres at 2.05 g/t from 188 metres, including 3 metres at 5.66 g/t;
- 5 metres at 5.09 g/t from 307 metres;
- 4 metres at 9.65 g/t from 274 metres;
- 5 metres at 4.26 g/t from 74 metres;
- 18 metres at 1.48 g/t from 62 metres, including 5 metres at 4.20 g/t;
- 7 metres at 3.01 g/t from 220 metres, including 2 metres at 8.97 g/t;
- 26 metres at 1.42 g/t from metres, including 6 metres at 2.79 g/t; and
- 15 metres at 1.27 g/t from 281 metres, including 6 metres at 2.89 g/t.
Nexus believes the gold mineralisation, tenor and widths observed in these 22 holes are consistent with the results seen in previous drilling at Crusader-Templar.
Specifically, the explorer says the latest 22 holes continue to show the extent, continuity, and high-grade nature of the mineralisation.
What now?
Results are expected from another 83 RC holes and two diamond drill holes in the coming weeks.
Nexus has planned a follow-up 40,000-metre RC program to follow on from the current 30,000-metre campaign, which is nearing completion.
Around 8,000 metres of the 40,000-metre program will be designated to drilling two regional targets, Solomon and Branches, identified by regional gravity and magnetic surveys.
In addition, Nexus’ 6,000-metre diamond program is well underway, with two diamond drill rigs operating around the clock.
Follow-up diamond drill programs will be designed as more results come in from the current programs.
