Antipa Minerals flags potential to extend Minyari resource at depth after intersecting high-grade gold-copper

“The company looks forward to delivering an increase to the resource, followed by an initial assessment of a potential development opportunity, and also testing multiple additional prospects and new targets which could increase the resource

Antipa Minerals Ltd (ASX:AZY) has revealed gold-copper mineralisation with secondary silver and cobalt from drilling beneath the current resource at Minyari Dome Project, indicating that the deposit may extend deeper.

Highlight results from drilling beneath the deposit in Western Australia's Paterson Province include:

  • 51.3 metres at 1.98 g/t gold, 0.23% copper and 0.07% cobalt from 288.7 metres, including 14 metres at 6.09 g/t gold, 0.70% copper and 0.14% cobalt from 290 metres, including 4 metres at 9.35 g/t gold and 0.15% cobalt from 300.0 metres, 2.5 metres at 11.82 g/t gold, 3.61% copper, 8.44 g/t silver and 0.29% cobalt from 290.0 metres, and 0.3 metres at 32.50 g/t gold, 0.11% copper and 0.44% cobalt from 331 metres.
  • 20 metres at 1.02 g/t gold and 0.15% copper from 477.8 metres, including 0.5 metres at 30.50 g/t gold, 1.72% copper, 7.84 g/t silver and 0.09% cobalt from 497.3 metres
  • 12.7 metres at 6.32 g/t gold from 594.3 metres, including 1.3 metres at 58.72 g/t gold from 594.3 metres and 0.5 metres at 150.5 g/t gold and 0.03% cobalt from 594.3 metres; and
  • 27.4 metres at 1.12 g/t gold, 0.23% copper and 0.04% cobalt from 389.5 metres, including 3.8 metres at 3.12 g/t gold, 1.26% copper and 0.04% cobalt from 413 metres, and 0.8 metres at 9.57 g/t gold, 5.45% copper, 7.33 g/t silver and 0.14% cobalt from 416 metres.

Potential for resource gains

“These deeper extensional results continue to highlight the development opportunity demonstrating the potential for significant resource upside and extend the thick high-grade breccia style mineralisation at depth at Minyari,” Antipa Minerals managing director Roger Mason said.

“Major step-out drill holes 21MYD0509 and 21MYD0510 intersected thick zones of high-grade gold-copper mineralisation extending Minyari’s northern mineralisation a whopping 210 metres down dip.

“Interestingly the recently discovered Sundown prospect, which is located 300 metres to the west of this area, demonstrates a similar near-surface gold-copper mineralisation expression to the shallow northern region of Minyari, highlighting the potential for significant increases in the mineralisation grade and thickness with depth at Sundown.”

Antipa says these results confirm the continuity of a moderate northwest plunging ‘pipe’ – a thick high-grade breccia mineralisation that remains open at depth – and offer exploration upside.

Assays of note from drilling the near-surface extensions of the deposit include:

  • 34 metres at 1.24 g/t gold and 0.18% copper from 124 metres, including 1-metre at 7.30 g/t gold, 0.92% copper and 0.45% cobalt from 25 metres, 1-metre at 5.18 g/t gold, 1.98% copper and 0.04% cobalt from 68 metres, 7 metres at 4.90 g/t gold, 0.63% copper and 0.04% cobalt from 146.0 metres, including 1-metre at 13.10 g/t gold and 0.17% cobalt from 152 metres; and
  • 4 metres at 10.48 g/t gold, 0.53% copper and 0.05% cobalt from 34 metres, including 1-metre at 37.3 g/t gold, 0.48% copper and 0.04% cobalt from 36 metres.

Results from drilling at Minyari continue to extend the potential size of the deposit and enhance the project development outlook.

Several other zones of interest

“Several of the Minyari step-out drill holes also intersected zones of very high-grade gold breccia mineralisation on the contact with and hosted within the northern diorite intrusion which crosscuts the meta-sediment,” Mason continued.

“Hits of 6 to 13 metres grading 6 to 8 g/t gold, including extremely high-grade intervals of 0.5 metres at 150.5 g/t and 1.4 metres at 23 g/t gold, highlight further resource upside at depth associated with the diorite.

“Over at WACA the discovery of a broad zone of gold-copper-silver mineralisation located 150 metres west of the resource provides further resource upside, with drill hole 21MYD0511 returning multiple narrow intersections grading +1 g/t gold, up to 1% copper and up to 12 g/t silver across a 100-metre downhole zone.

“This new WACA West discovery has an encouraging structural address being situated in an interpreted dismembered fold hinge displaying increased magnetic anomalism, a signature commonly associated with significant mineralisation.

“The company looks forward to delivering an increase to the resource, followed by an initial assessment of a potential development opportunity, and also testing multiple additional prospects and new targets which could increase the resource further and enhance the development potential.”

Antipa is still awaiting assays from the final 6,440 metres of greenfield drilling at Minyari Dome, part of some 52,750 metres of resource definition, extensional and green and brownfield drilling completed in 2021.
