Russian stocks virtually wiped out in London

Big names such as Gazprom, Novatek and Sberbank have seen their valuations dramatically reduced.

An index that tracks Russian companies trading in London has lost 98% of its value over the last two weeks.

Big names hit hard by the reaction to Russia's invasion of Ukraine include Gazprom, Sberbank and Rosneft (AIM:ROSN), with an estimated £428bn wiped off the stock market value of London-traded Russian stocks.

Part of the loss of value is down to the collapse in the value of the Russian ruble after the country's banks were excluded from the SWIFT transfer system used by international banks.

The table below lists the percentage changes of Russian stocks traded on the London Stock Exchange's international market.

Meanwhile, stocks with a Russian connection that are traded on the LSE's domestic markets have also been hit hard.

Here’s is Proactive’s list of the stocks hit hardest since Russia invaded its neighbour on 24 February. The list excludes those on the International segment of the London Stock Exchange.
