JD Wetherspoon Plc (LSE:JDW) is to stop selling Baltika lager, which originates in Russia, in its pubs.
“With immediate effect, Baltika lager is being withdrawn from all Wetherspoon pubs,” a spokesperson for the pubs group told The News, a local newspaper in Portsmouth.
The move comes after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last week.
The pub chain also said that its pubs will no longer be obliged to stock Stolichnaya vodka, although this is as a result of a shake-up of the chain's drinks menu rather than any anti-Russian sentiment; although Stoli originated in the Soviet Union it is now made in Latvia.
Smirnoff, or McSmirnoff as some people call it (as it is made in Scotland), will continue to be stocked by ‘Spoons.
