Shell PLC (LSE:SHEL, NYSE:SHEL, EURONEXT:SHELL) said Tuesday Sinead Gorman will replace Jessica Uhl who is stepping down after five years in the role as chief financial officer on 1 April.
Uhl, described as a “key architect” of the oil giant’s recent strategic changes, is leaving for family reasons and was not able to commit to a long-term relocation in the UK, Reuters said, citing Shell.
Britain-based Gorman, who is the current executive vice-president of finance and has worked at Shell for 23 years, will work from London in her new role.
Gorman “combines broad finance, trading, new business development, and capital projects experience with a deep knowledge of Shell,” Andrew Mackenzie, chairperson, said in a statement.
Uhl was instrumental in Shell’s January relocation of its headquarters to London from the Netherlands and the dropping of ‘Royal Dutch’ in its name (read more).
The news comes the day after Shell vowed to remove itself from all Russian operations following the country’s invasion of Ukraine (read more).
