AFC Energy and building contractor ACCIONA, its partner in Spain, are to deploy their first Hybrid Fuel Cell (HFC) system at a construction site north of Cadiz.
AFC said the deployment will be of its HFC system, which offers materially higher energy density and generates more power than the "L" Series that was initially proposed for ACCIONA and follows an update to the product roadmap that was presented to its partner in November 2021.
The HFC system, AFC's first, will be built in the UK before being shipped to Spain.
Costs will be shared between the two partners.
Adam Bond, AFC’s chief executive, said: "AFC Energy's partnership with ACCIONA is key in demonstrating commercially and technically viable, yet sustainable, power generation solutions that meet the ambitious emission reduction agenda of the global off-grid power market.
“Our new HFC technology platform is one of several new products we are introducing to provide industry with higher energy density, reduced footprint and higher efficiency fuel cell systems.”
