Golden Rim Resources hits more oxide gold in Kada exploratory drilling

A second phase of RC drilling is in the works, while GMR plans to unveil its maiden MRE for the Kada gold camp imminently.

Golden Rim Resources Ltd (ASX:GMR) has encountered more oxide gold during exploratory drilling at its Kada Gold Project in Guinea.

The West African gold explorer has tabled assays for 12 reverse circulation (RC) holes covering 1,716 metres after its first bout of exploration drilling uncovered broad zones of oxide mineralisation at the Massan prospect — outside Kada’s existing mineral resource.

Specifically, the newly discovered oxide gold zones are up to 1.2 kilometres north and 400 metres south of the mineral resource footprint along the Kada Gold Corridor.

The new results indicate Golden Rim could uncover additional gold mineralisation along the 15-kilometre Kada Gold Corridor, 11 kilometres of which remains to be drill tested.

Following the early-stage results, GMR has a second drilling phase in the works. It’s expected to cover 7,500 metres of ground, while a maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE) for Kada should be tabled shortly.

Continues to hit shallow oxide gold

Speaking to the new assays out of Kada, Golden Rim managing director Craig Mackay said: “Golden Rim’s first exploration RC drilling at Kada outside our maiden MRE area continues to successfully intersect broad zones of shallow, oxide gold mineralisation.

“We now only have assays for a single hole outstanding and we are preparing for a second round of exploration RC drilling to follow-up new oxide intersections in the Massan prospect outside the MRE area, such as 66 metres at 1.0 g/t gold, and to test the additional multiple exciting bedrock gold targets we have identified along the 15-kilometre-long Kada Gold Corridor.”

Turning the soil at Kada

Golden Rim recently completed its first round of exploration drilling at Kada, which tested multiple bedrock gold targets along the Kada Gold Corridor.

In turn, these were identified in soil and auger sampling and during limited, previous Newmont RC and aircore drilling.

The exploration drilling was conducted outside, but within 1.2 kilometres, of the area where Golden Rim is preparing its maiden MRE.

With 12 holes reported in this announcement, assays for the last hole in the program remain pending.

The best gold intersections from these holes (reported at a 0.3 g/t gold cut-off) include:

  • 17 metres at 0.3 g/t gold from 79 metres;
  • 12 metres at 0.4 g/t from 136 metres (hole ended in mineralisation);
  • 5 metres at 1.0 g/t from 16 metres;
  • 4 metres at 1.4 g/t from 112 metres;
  • 16 metres at 0.7 g/t from 30 metres; and
  • 13 metres at 1.2 g/t from 51 metres.

Interestingly, new oxide intersections in one of the drill holes lie 200 metres to the south-southeast of the recent oxide intersection — measuring 66 metres at 1.0 g/t from 29 metres — and could be the strike extension of this broad zone of mineralisation.

Next steps

Resource consultancy RPM Global is preparing the maiden, JORC-compliant MRE for Kada.

Meanwhile, Golden Rim is awaiting assays for one more drill hole at the Massan Prospect.

The end of hole is expected to intersect the down-dip extension of the 66-metre gold hit, and results are expected in several weeks.

Golden Rim expects to commence another round of exploration drilling in March and/or April 2022, focusing initially on:

  • The recent oxide intersections at the Massan prospect, north of the Golden Rim MRE area;
  • The five target areas identified along the Kada Gold Corridor; and
  • The Sinin prospect target in the parallel corridor, 1.2 kilometres to the east.

Representative samples of drill core from Kada (weighing 635 kilograms) are undergoing metallurgical test-work by ALS Laboratories in Perth, Western Australia.

Golden Rim reports the test-work is progressing well and the results are expected later this month.
