Flutter Entertainment announces sustainability strategy

Flutter Entertainment's Positive Impact plan targets three key areas: Helping customers to play well, empowering colleagues to work better, and partnering with communities to do more.

Flutter Entertainment PLC's (LSE:FLTR) first sustainability strategy called the Positive Impact Plan, which focuses on customer welfare, has been released.

Three key areas are emphasised in the plan, with the LSE-listed global gambling group stating significant progress has been made across the organisation to provide a global strategy.

'Play Well' metrics will be introduced in 2022 for each of the company's divisions, directly linked to colleague remuneration on a global basis.

Globally, the online operator aims to have 75% of its active online customers using one or more of its 'Play Well' tools by 2030, rising to over 50% by 2026.

"Our Positive Impact Plan is a comprehensive and challenging strategy which demonstrates that Flutter is setting the agenda for positive change," Peter Jackson, chief executive, said.

Through 2021, the company improved its gambling measures across the group, investing over £45mln to support and promote safe play, Flutter said in a statement.

Across the group, it invested in safer gambling resources as well as technology. developed marketing campaigns to raise awareness, and made significant contributions to research, education and treatment.

Tombola, an online bingo platform acquired in November by the global gambling group, was completed last month.

As of now, Flutter is in the process of establishing its presence in Italy with the acquisition of Italian gaming brand Sisal from CVC Capital Partners Fund VI. The deal will expand Flutter’s footprint in Italy. The all-cash deal is expected to close by the second quarter of 2022.

Three key areas

Using the power of sports and play, and the reach of its brands, the company aims to improve the lives of 10 million people by 2030.

As part of the group's Positive Impact plan, it is targeting three key areas: Helping customers to play well, empowering colleagues to work better, and partnering with communities to do more.

The group's goal is to have 40% of women in top leadership positions by 2026. Its Work Better strategy aims to create a business that is more diverse and inclusive by 2030. The group has invested £3.7mln in community initiatives in 2021, including new partnerships and ongoing work.

The company said it would develop and roll out a global e-waste policy by end of 2023, as well as transition to renewable energy by 2030.
