Mako Gold’s extensional drilling at Gogbala in Côte d’Ivoire yields high-grade bounty

Drilling at Gogbala has returned multiple high-grade intersections, including 1-metre at 30.89 g/t gold, found in an emerging zone two kilometres north of the priority mineral resource estimate area.

Mako Gold Ltd (ASX:MKG) has received high-grade assay results from 25 reverse circulation (RC) holes of an ongoing 10,000-metre drill program at Gogbala prospect within the flagship Napié Project in Côte d’Ivoire.

Gogbala is located on a 23-kilometre soil anomaly and coincident 30-kilometre-long Napié Fault.

Several drill holes host multiple gold mineralised intersects, with one hosting a cumulative 24 metres of significant mineralisation and the best result was 1-metre at 30.89 g/t gold from 46 metres.

These results come from extensional drilling and are, therefore, likely to increase the size of the upcoming maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE).

Cross-section of the mineralised area.

Widely mineralised zone

“We are pleased with the ongoing results from our extensional drilling at the Gogbala Prospect,” managing director Peter Ledwidge said.

“Having 18 of 25 holes return significant gold results indicates how widely mineralised the Gogbala prospect is. These results will add ounces to the upcoming maiden mineral resource estimate scheduled for the second quarter of the calendar year.

“In addition to the positive results returned from the 2-kilometre-long high-priority maiden MRE zone, further promising intersects were returned outside that zone, which highlights the blue sky that remains at Gogbala and the whole Napié permit.”

Highlights

Of the assay results for 25 RC holes, 18 holes appear to have encountered significant mineralisation. Some of the other strong results include:

  • 15 metres at 1.17 g/t gold from 109 metres, including 5 metres at 2.15 g/t from 110 metres;
  • 5 metres at 4.61 g/t from 158 metres, including 1-metre at 15.71 g/t from 162 metres; and
  • 6 metres at 1.41 g/t from 17 metres; including 2 metres at 3.10 g/t from 17 metres and 5 metres at 2.64 g/t from 73 metres.

Most of the holes were drilled in the 2 kilometre-long high-priority area which is the focus of extensional drilling for the upcoming maiden MRE scheduled for the coming quarter.

The company is “highly encouraged” by results from these drill holes in an emerging zone, as the find demonstrates the potential for Gogbala to grow.

What’s next?

The company will continue with RC drilling at Gogbala and within the week a diamond drill rig will arrive on site to drill deeper holes and establish the extent of the resource at depth, and hopefully increase it.

“Extensional drilling is ongoing at Gogbala in order to maximise the size of the upcoming MRE. We look forward to providing further results as assays are received,” said Ledwidge.
