Great Atlantic Resources Corp (TSX-V:GR) revealed it has started a diamond drilling program at the Wheal Louisiana occurrence at its Mascarene project in New Brunswick, Canada.
In the 1850s, two shafts were sunk at the occurrence and there are other historic pits in the area.
Limited sampling by Great Atlantic in 2020 confirmed anomalous copper and gold in rubble and a sample returned 6.19% copper, 0.404 grams per ton (g/t) gold and an anomalous value of 107 parts per million (ppm) cobalt.
Meanwhile, two quartz vein rubble samples returned anomalous values of up to 0.86% copper and gold up to 0.19 g/t.
The Mascarene property spans around 2,080 hectares and sits around 6 kilometers (km) southwest of the town of Saint George. Access is excellent.

The firm believes a broad northeast trending magnetic high is linked to a buried mafic intrusion(s) and a possible target for copper-nickel-cobalt deposits.
The drilling program is planned for 600 metres with four drill holes, noted the company.
Great Atlantic Resources is exploring assets in the resource-rich and sovereign risk-free realm of Atlantic Canada, one of the number one mining regions of the world.
It has a project generator model and has a special focus on critical elements - antimony, tungsten and gold.
