Dundas Minerals secures exploration licence 63/2124; now holds nine of 12 Dundas Project tenements

Dundas Minerals Ltd (ASX:DUN) has secured its ninth exploration licence for the Dundas Nickel-Copper-Gold Project in the Albany Fraser Orogen region of Western Australia, leaving just three more to be obtained before the entire planned project tenement is held by Dundas.

The application for the licence was submitted in June 2021 and it covers some 242 square kilometres, the largest exploration licence of the 12 that will comprise the flagship project.

The historical Terra Firma gold prospect (1995) is located in the north-west corner of E 63/2124.

Terra Firma prospect

The Terra Firma gold prospect is hosted within a 7-kilometre by 2-kilometre area of folded magnetic stratigraphy with an underlying gravity anomaly.

In 1995, a shallow aircore drilling program of four holes was completed to a maximum depth of 40 metres.

Assay results from one of the holes returned 4 metres at 1.06 g/t gold at the bottom of the 40-metre hole.

This intercept was described as “preserved quartz-biotite sulphide fragments”. A second hole also reported quartz-biotite sulphide fragments; however no anomalous gold values were reported, and the last two found nothing of note.

The gold price was a fraction of its current worth at the time, meaning no follow-up exploration has been conducted since the mineralisation was discovered in 1995.

It is Dundas Minerals’ intention to explore the prospect further once access to the site and the associated tracks can be established.
