Pure Gold Mining boosts operational team with new COO, mine general manager and vice president exploration

The new appointments will strengthen operations at its PureGold gold mine complex in Red Lake, Ontario

Pure Gold Mining Inc announced a series of executive appointments to boost operations at its PureGold gold complex.

The company is welcoming Terry Smith as its new COO and Bryan Wilson as vice president mine general manager.

"We are extremely excited to welcome Terry and Bryan to PureGold,” CEO Troy Fierro said in a statement. “Terry is a talented mining engineer, optimization specialist, and innovative leader who will enhance our operational planning and execution capabilities. Terry's sharp focus on, and deep understanding of, the drivers of long-term value creation in mining and his ability to assemble and lead effective teams make him ideally suited to help shape and execute the company's long-term vision for the PureGold Mine.”

Fierro added that incoming mine general manager Wilson is an “exemplary leader” who is known for establishing a strong safety culture and leading highly productive operations teams.

Phil Smerchanski has also been promoted to vice president exploration and technical services, Pure Gold said in a statement. Smerchanski will work closely with both Smith and Wilson in supporting the technical services team at the mine site.

“As we continue to ramp up the PureGold Mine to its full potential, these appointments reflect our commitment to a culture of operational and technical excellence. I look forward to Terry, Bryan and Phil's leadership in their respective areas,” Fierro told investors.

Outgoing mine general manager Maryse Belanger will stay on PureGold’s board of directors and work closely with the team to ensure a smooth transition, the company said.

Separately, PureGold granted 4.4 million stock options and 2.6 million restricted share units to certain employees under its stock option plan.

The options have an exercise price of $0.70 and a vesting period of over three years, with an expiry date after five years.
