Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) will allow users to send tips in Ethereum via its social media app, according to a tweet last night.
The group also added other tipping options, such as mobile payment apps Paga and Paytm.
Users looking to receive tips in Ethereum must add an Ethereum address to their profile, Cointelegraph reported. Trying to add an Ethereum name service domain instead of a full alphanumeric address will prompt an error box.
Tips are only available on iOS and Android phones, with the social media company claiming users keep 100% of the tips.
They were initially introduced on the app as a way for users to show appreciation and support to “emerging creators and journalists to Twitter Spaces hosts and more,” according to the company.
In September 2021, the company enabled Bitcoin payments as the first cryptocurrency payment option via its tipping jar.
Twitter also introduced a feature which allows verified users to upload non-fungible tokens as their profile pictures, provided it was on the iOS platform.
