Oncimmune Holdings PLC (AIM:ONC) said its Early CDT Lung blood test was approved for use in the treatment of solitary pulmonary nodules by a hospital in Spain.
The green light was given by the Regional Ministry of Health for Aragon and the diagnostic will be used by the thoracic surgery unit of the University Hospital Miguel Servet, Zaragoza.
The thumbs up from the regional authority is seen as an ‘important development’ by Oncimmune and local distributor, Sabartech. Early CDT Lung was approved for use last November by the Galician Health Service.
“The progress being made in Spain is mirroring the positive engagement we are experiencing with several NHS clinical commissioning groups and cancer alliances in the UK," Oncimmune chief executive, Adam Hill, said.
“Overall, this is an encouraging development for the continued adoption of the EarlyCDT Lung blood test with national health systems globally."
CDT Lung has been developed to screen for those at heightened risk of lung cancer.
