A Boohoo Group PLC (AIM:BOO) advert was banned by the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) following a complaint the images were “offensive, harmful and irresponsible.”
The model in the advert wore a t-short, a thong style bikini and a pair of trainers and lifted her top to expose her stomach and sides.
"We concluded that the ad objectified and sexualised women,” the ASA said in its ruling. “It was therefore irresponsible and likely to cause serious offence.”
A Boohoo spokesperson said it was disappointed with the findings as it prides itself on inclusive, body positive imagery and it had “removed the associated images from our website when we received details of the complaint.”
Boohoo was also censored in 2019 by the ASA over an ad which contained the phrase “send nudes”.
