The Crypto Report: Bitcoin and Ethereum back in the green, Coinbase Super Bowl ad hugely popular

Bitcoin ticked higher on Tuesday, mirroring cautious gains in European equities, as fears over a Russian invasion of Ukraine continued to keep investors on edge. Bitcoin was up 3.4% to US$43,601, edging further away from the crucial $40,000 level, while Ethereum gained 5.86% to US$3,037.

Coinbase Global Inc (NASDAQ:COIN) (Coinbase Global Inc (NASDAQ:COIN)) managed to grab its share of headlines after a Bitcoin giveaway during half time of the Superbowl caused its platform to crash.

The leading digital asset exchange’s campaign cost about $14 million dollars of airtime. Users who scanned the QR code with their phones were directed to a Bitcoin giveaway, $15 worth of Bitcoin for each new customer sign-up. The gimmick backfired somewhat, the Coinbase website evidently caused both the website and the app to crash.
