Miramar Resources Ltd (ASX:M2R) has bolstered the gold footprint at its wholly-owned Glandore Project in WA thanks to the latest round of aircore drilling.
The explorer reported on hole resplits from a phase one aircore campaign at the Eastern Goldfields project this morning, with multiple holes ending in more than 0.25 g/t gold.
Miramar says the assays expand on what it considers to be a very large gold footprint at Glandore, providing further exploration upside.
Now, it’s on to diamond drilling at the gold play, with plans to target historical drill intersections in the June quarter.
Exploring the gold system at Glandore
Miramar executive chairman Allan Kelly said there appeared to be a very substantial gold system under the lake at Glandore that had not previously been recognised.
“Historical drilling focused on the eastern margin of the granodiorite intrusion, where the high-grade diamond drill hole results are seen, but did not test the intrusion itself,” Kelly explained.
“Gold mineralisation at the nearby Majestic and Trojan deposits is hosted in northeast-striking structures within small granitic intrusions similar to the geological setting at Glandore,” he added.
“We believe the results to date indicate the presence of at least one of these northeast-trending mineralised structures within the granodiorite pluton, extending over a significant strike length,” the chairman concluded.

Some of the best intersections from the aircore resplits include:
- 9 metres at 0.56 g/t gold from 46 metres, including 2 metres at 1.40 g/t;
- 6 metres at 0.78 g/t from 12 metres, including 3 metres at 1.35 g/t; and
- 9 metres at 0.78 g/t from 48 metres, including 2 metres at 2.94 g/t.
Interestingly, a line of drill holes at Glandore defines a continuous, 1.8-kilometre-long, northeast-trending zone of anomalous gold and pathfinder elements through the middle of the project’s interpreted granodiorite pluton.
In the northeast corner of the project, one hole ended in 9 metres at 0.78 g/t gold (including 2 metres at 2.94 g/t) at the eastern end of the drill line.
Notably, there is no historical drilling to the east or north of this hole.
Next steps
Miramar is readying for a diamond drill program at the Glandore East prospect, where historical diamond drilling intersected numerous, high-grade veins on the eastern edge of the granodiorite pluton.
In the past, rigs intersected as much as 6 metres at 29.8 g/t gold from 87 to 93 metres.
The diamond drill program is scheduled for the coming quarter, after reverse circulation and aircore drilling wraps up at the Gidji Joint Venture Project.
About Glandore
The Glandore Project is situated within the prolific Eastern Goldfields, roughly 40 kilometres east of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.
Miramar purchased 100% of the project as part of its 2020 initial public offering.
Glandore’s highest priority target — the western portion — is underlain by a layered mafic sill, intruding into basalt and sedimentary rocks.
The prospective geology is overlain by lake sediments, which thin towards the west.
Until now, investigation has been mostly limited to the project’s southwest, while exploration has been sporadic since the late 1980s.
It is notable that previous explorers identified gold mineralisation during drilling on the eastern contact of the Glandore granodiorite.
