Animoca Brands Corporation Ltd has partnered with Brinc, a global venture accelerator, to launch the Guild Accelerator Program.
This program aims to grow the play-to-earn (P2E) guild ecosystem globally, offering a total investment capital of US$30 million (AU$42.6M) over two years.
Guild Accelerator Program
The program aims to enable millions of gamers around the world to generate income by participating in P2E gaming through crypto gaming guilds.
How it works:
- Admission to the program is prioritised for guilds with a commitment to sustainability.
- This includes projects that support and give back to their communities, with an emphasis on energy efficient proof-of-stake protocols and side chains that have a lower overall physical footprint.
- Online applications are open at brinc.io/guild until February 27, with the first cohort scheduled to start in May.
Funding for guilds
Headed by Richard Robinson, entrepreneur-in-residence at Animoca, the program will fund up to $500,000 per guild.
In order to optimise each guild’s performance and growth, the Guild Accelerator Program will create management and operational systems, share knowledge from world-class mentors and help raise funds beyond the start-up phase.
Mentors and experts supporting the program include Brendan Wong (founder of Avocado Guild), Saruboti Sasuke (head of partnerships for YGG), and Howard Xu (co-founder of the Vietnam-based guild Ancient8).
Gaming leading the way in entertainment
With 3.2 billion active gamers globally, gaming is swiftly becoming the most prolific and expansive entertainment industry.
Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca, said the space for play-to-earn guilds has enormous potential for growth.
“The future of work in the metaverse is being written today, and we are proud to foster the guilds that are driving the evolution of these new opportunities.”
Asia recorded the largest, fastest growing P2E market, accounting for 45% of the global total.
P2E games also saw a rapid growth last year, which saw the increase in Axie Infinity and gaming guilds such as Yield Guild Games and Avocado Guild- all of which were backed by Animoca Brands as an early investor.
CEO of Brinc Manav Gupta said guilds provide an onramp for the future of earning in a way the traditional industry never could.
“Guilds can help transform education, skill development, agriculture, R&D and almost any industry where access to tools and assets historically prevented anyone with time to innovate, up-skill and thus earn a living.”
