Chase Mining Corporation's subsidiary Red Fox wraps up successful copper and zinc soil sampling at Copper Creek

The find builds on historical work conducted in the area and extends the limits of the mineralised zone.

Chase Mining Corporation Ltd (ASX:CML)’s partial holding, Red Fox Resources (ASX:FXR) Pty Limited, has received assay results from a soil sampling program conducted late last year at Copper Creek in the Georgetown district of northeast Queensland.

The company, in which Chase Mining holds a 40% stake, uncovered up to 656 parts per million (ppm) copper and 743ppm zinc in soil samples at the aptly named project, with a copper soil anomaly defined over 2.2 kilometres, extending the historical anomaly.

Copper Creek soil sampling

Red Fox collected 236 soil samples at 50-metre intervals along 12 lines, spaced 200 metres apart, to better define a previously discovered anomaly, and to detail and extend the zone.

The historical work consisted of a small ridge and spur soil sampling program by Glengarry and a single line of soil samples adjacent to the stream anomaly, targeting zinc in streams, conducted by BHP Minerals.

While previous programs identified anomalies, they did not define the limits and extent of the anomalous area.

Zinc and rare earth elements too

The company also picked up on a zinc and rare earth anomaly to the east of the copper anomaly, extending over 2.5 kilometres. The prospect occurs in streams occurring over 10 kilometres of strike length.

The exploration permit covers the Etheridge Formation, which hosts the Kaiser Bill copper deposit and a major intersection of structures in north Queensland, being the intersection of the Burdekin River fault and the Lynd Mylonite Zone.

The anomaly lies immediately adjacent (stratigraphically) to an enhanced magnetic zone within a probable banded iron formation and is hosted by carbonate and sodic altered metasedimentary gneiss.

Red Fox plans to follow up these encouraging results with further sampling and mapping as soon as is practical after the wet season.
